The original watercolour "Queen Alexandra" was created in honour of the 100th birthday of the oldest continually running school in Alberta, Queen Alexandra.  Built in 1906 as "The Duggan Street School," it served as the first University of Alberta from 1908 until 1912.  This historic resource now houses the Edmonton District Historical Society and the Old Strathcona Foundation, as well as being an operating elementary school.  The artist consulted historic photographic archives in order to "reconstruct" some of the originl architectural details.  Both of the artist's parents attended the school, and it features prominently in the view from her studio window.

In honour of the University of Alberta's 100th anniversary, the original painting was donated and accepted by jury into the U of A's Museum collection in July 2008
