A complete portfolio of the 2006 paintings by Canadian Artist Jennifer Annesley BFA, CSPWC,
including the annual solo exhibition "Byzantium" (November 2007, Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, Edmonton, Canada) commissions, and other works.

Forward by Jennifer Annesley:  "The majority of the 2007 paintings are informed by the artist's time spent in Turkey, especially in the historic city of Istanbul. "The sheer breadth of history and architectural richness in Constantinople is staggering. From the roman aqueducts and the Byzantine empire, through the middle ages and the Ottoman empire, there is more than 2000 years of architecture to explore, set amidst the bustling exoticism of a city straddling two continents. In this body of work, I wanted to capture the sense of exploration that generations of visitors and merchants felt, as well as the grandeur of the imposing city on the Bosphorous. In particular, I wanted to explore the architecture of the Byzantine Empire; the contiunation of the roman empire after it's fall in the rest of Europe, and one of the sparks for the renaissance. While exploring the west coast of Turkey, I had the feeling of standing on the precipice of Asia, on the edge of possibility. The paintings vary widely and are a reflection of only a minute fraction of Turkey's diversity"
